Buying the perfect slow cooker is on the minds of cooks all over the world. Did you know that there are actually a lot of different sizes and varieties to choose from? If you feel as though you’re spinning in your tracks, don’t fret. With a little guidance and information, you’ll be able to decipher what slow cooker is best for you.

All you need to keep in mind is that as your slow cooker needs change, you can always change and upgrade as well. As long as you are finding ways to cook with your slow cooker, it’s an easy process from there!

The great part about buying a slow cooker is that they take care of the cooking for you! It’s like having a cooking companion that can literally take over a recipe and make it taste delicious. Plus, you can set it in the morning and come home to a delicious meal at night! It’s seriously that simple! (and did I mention addictive?)

If you’re on the hunt for great tips for the buying the perfect slow cooker, you won’t want to miss these!

Tips for Buying the Perfect Slow Cooker

These simple tips can help when you’re trying to decide how to buy the perfect slow cooker.

Find a slow cooker with a removable pot

There’s nothing worse than dropping something down in the slow cooker and then not being able to clean it out! Eliminate that from the beginning and buy one that you can take out and clean. Many of them are actually made that way nowadays, but it’s still something for you to be aware of

Consider the size of slow cooker you’ll need or your cooking needs

Not all slow cookers are the same size, so plan accordingly when purchasing one. If you’re buying one for just you, you won’t need a huge one. However, if you’re buying to feed your family, you may want to consider purchasing a larger one that can cook larger sizes and portions of food.

Buy a slow cooker with a glass lid

If you’re anything like me, you’re going to want to constantly be looking at your food to see the progress. Instead of lifting up the lid and letting out all the heat, this is where the beauty of the glass lid comes into play. You can see your food and the progress without letting out all the heat!

Find a slow cooker that is dishwasher safe

Obviously, the metal insert and area that you plug in cannot be put into the dishwasher, but if you can find one with a removable insert that is dishwasher safe, that’s awesome! It’s just one more way that the crock pot can save your time and energy!

Get the extended warranty when you purchase it

Always check and see what the cost of the extended warranty is. You will find that it’s not all that expensive and it’s totally worth it in the end. So many times it’s just a few dollars and it gives you years of protection over your slow cooker should it break or need to be replaced.

What is the life of a slow cooker?

Great question. There isn’t any type of timeframe of when you should think about updating your slow cooker. They are made to last and if you take care of them properly, they should last you a long time. Hopefully, the only time that you’ll need to replace it is when you need to buy a bigger one to feed your growing family!

Buying the perfect slow cooker shouldn’t be stressful. Instead, think of it as an investment for your cooking future. With all the available slow cooker options out there, you can rest easy knowing that you’re about to make one of the best decisions for you and your kitchen!
